Kazimierz

Kazimierz, which was founded by King Casimir the Great in the 14th century as a separate city, is now one of Krakow’s most interesting districts. For centuries two diverse cultural and religious communities coexisted here – the Jewish and the Christian one. While walking along the streets of Kazimierz you will see, among others, many synagogues, the old Jewish cemetery and the house where Helena Rubinstein, the so-called queen of cosmetics, was born. We will also find out what mikveh was and visit some of the places where Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List was filmed. And most importantly, you will feel the unique atmosphere of this district!

Selected places and monuments: ul. Szeroka, the Old Synagogue, Remuh Synagogue and cemetery, Helena Rubinstein’s family house, the New Temple Synagogue, the backyard between Meiselsa and Józefa streets.

Duration: 2 – 3  h
