Our guide will start the tour about Technique Trail at the 19th-century Railway Station, where you will learn why the inhabitants of Krakow and the surrounding villages were afraid of railroads and what important events the Railway Station was connected with. Then you will have the opportunity to see the first two-level intersection of communication routes in Krakow and the railway viaduct – constructed by Teodor Talowski. Nearby the building of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre, you will see one of the first power plants in Krakow, the so-called the Machine House, which was built for the needs of the theater. At 19 Westerplatte Street, the guide will show you the fire station and will tell you about the history of the fire brigade in Krakow and the adventures of firefighters with the Tadeusz Kościuszko monument. At Dietla street you will see one of the oldest Krakow bridges – the railway viaduct in Grzegórzki and you will find out why the Vistula no longer flows under it. Later on the tour you will see the Krakow Power Plant and visit the Museum of Municipal Engineering in the Old Tram Depot. The guide will show you exhibits related to the development of public transport and infrastructure, such as historic cars and trams. On the Vistula River you will learn about the history of the Józef Piłsudski Bridge and see the Vistula boulevards from the beginning of the 20th century. You will end your tour of the Krakow Technique Trail at Glass and Ceramics Centre at Lipowa 3 located in the pre-war building of the “Krakow Glassworks”, where you will be able to take part in a demonstration of hand-molding glass.
