Łagiewniki and the Kraków Sanctuaries with a guide: what you will see

You will have the opportunity to learn more about them. You will visit both the newest sanctuaries and those with many years of tradition (the Łagiewniki Sanctuary). Hear amazing stories and legends related to the important Saints of Krakow. We invite you for a trip!

You will start your tour of Łagiewniki and other Krakow sanctuaries at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, where you will see the monastery chapel of st. Joseph, with the image of Merciful Jesus and a coffin with the relics of St. Faustina. You will also see the 19th-century monastery of the Congregation of Our Lady of Mercy and the place where St. Faustina died. You will have the opportunity to see the symbolic souvenir cell after the Saint in the so-called Sister Faustina’s Home. Our guide will show you around the Basilica of Divine Mercy and will discuss the history and symbolism of this temple. From the observation tower you will be able to admire the beautiful panorama of Krakow. Then you will go to the “Don’t Be Afraid” John Paul II Centre to look at the relics of the Holy Father, the papal cassock from the time of the assassination, the slab from the tomb of the Holy Pope, and beautiful chapels and oratories. In the John Paul II Museum you will see important mementoes of the Holy Father. Then you will visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where you will learn why the Redemptorists came to Krakow and how the holy image became famous. In the Sanctuary of the Holy Cross located in the Cistercians Church in Mogila, the guide will tell you who prayed at the “mystical crucifix” and what Christ’s hair was made of. Visiting the Sanctuary “Ecce homo” of St. You will learn about Brother Albert’s history of the miraculous painting and its creator, and you will also be able to see some of his other works at the nearby Museum. At the end of the tour, you will visit the Sanctuary of St. Casimir the Prince at the Reformed Franciscan Church and the Sanctuary of St. Simon of Lipnica at The Bernardine Church.

Duration

The route normally takes 2 – 4 hours. We adjust the pace and the scope to the group, so if you have less time we will shorten it without dropping what matters most.

Admission tickets

The guiding fee does not cover admission to museums and ticketed sites. Several of them sell timed entry and are often booked out days ahead in season, so it is worth mentioning them when you book.

What to bring

Every route is walked, at a pace suited to the group. A few small things will simply make it more comfortable:

  • Comfortable shoes. There is a lot of walking, and much of the Old Town is cobbled.
  • Water, especially in summer. We pass shops and cafés, though not always when you want one.
  • Clothing suited to the weather. A hat and sunglasses in the heat, an umbrella or rain jacket in spring and autumn.
  • Some cash in Polish currency. Most places take cards, but not all. The currency in Poland is the złoty (PLN).
  • A charged phone or camera. There will be plenty worth photographing.
  • Any documents that entitle you to a discount, such as a school, student or pensioner card.
